Golden globes bob in mounds of clustered flowers from April through frost on this perpetually happy plant. Lantana New Gold boasts spring-green stems with small, hydrangea-like leaves and is one of those maverick plants that thrive in
full sun
and any other miserable condition you throw its way.
If you need hardiness, New Gold, with her moderate to fast growth rate and salt tolerance delivers. Deer will avoid her, she's just fine in drought (with an occasional drink), is eye candy for butterflies galore, and works beautifully on banks and slopes for erosion control. New Gold is splendid in flowerbeds, container gardens and as a large scale groundcover.
If you wish her to remain tidy and compact, she'll comply, but given space, she'll blanket the earth with a carpet of green foliage and sunny yellow blossoms. Native to tropical regions of the Americas, this is a plant you just can't mess up and will find adaptable to just about any location provided you give her lots of sun.
Interesting Facts
Lantana berries will be sparse (or non-existent) but are edible when ripe. You'll know they are ripe when they turn a dark blue. Unripe berries and leaves are toxic.
Lantana New Gold was the 1995 Georgia Gold Medal Plant.

Shipping
If you are more than a one-day ship away, we do not recommend shipping this plant during the heat of summer (July-August). Although our shipments are expedited (at most three days in transit), this plant tends to suffer more than average plants when shipped during hot weather (sometimes melting into mush).
You may order them, but understand that we will not replace or refund should any perish. (more) You may specify a future ship date when you checkout. |
